How to make it

  • Prep a 7 x 11 x 3/4 inch tray / or an 8 x 8 x 2 using oil spray
  • Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy
  • Add slightly beaten eggs and beat together
  • Stir in flour and cocoa to combine thoroughly
  • Add chooped nuts to blend
  • Bake at 160˚ for 20 to 25 minutes until just firm - do not overbake
  • Remove from the oven, dust over with icing sugar
  • Cool in the tin for one hour before cutting
  • ** Makes firm mix which can be difficult to spread over base of tray- use a fork or spoon dipped in water.

    Thank you I will be interested in comments from people who try the recipe as I think the spreadabilty depends on the flour - which I’m told can be different in other countries
