Spicy Asian Shrimp And Almonds Dated 1971 Recipe
SPICY ASIAN SHRIMP AND ALMONDS DATED 1971 This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Reinhart Estate in Ida, Oklahoma in 1992.

Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 pound small shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 8 ounce dry fettuccine pasta cooked and drained
  • 2 cups bean sprouts
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds toasted
  • 2 tablespoon sliced green onions
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Directions
  1. In small bowl combine water, ketchup, basil, salt, ginger and red pepper flakes.
  2. Set aside.
  3. In large skillet over medium heat sauté shrimp and garlic in oil until shrimp are opaque.
  4. Stir in ketchup mixture and pasta then increase heat to medium high.
  5. Cook 5 minutes tossing occasionally until pasta absorbs sauce.
  6. Arrange on platter with sprouts on side and sprinkle with almonds and green onions.
  7. Garnish with lime wedges.
