RAVE REVIEW CHUCK ROAST This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Cooling Estate in Mesquite, Texas in 1987.

Ingredients
  • 3 pound boneless chuck roast
  • 27 ounce can sauerkraut drained
  • 16 ounces brown sugar
  • 28 ounce can undrained whole tomatoes
  • 1 large white onion chopped
  • 1 apple peeled cored and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

Directions
  1. Place roast in Dutch oven then top with remaining ingredients.
  2. Cover and simmer 4 hours.
