Baked Ribs And Sauerkraut Recipe
BAKED RIBS AND SAUERKRAUT This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Locke Estate in Seagoville, Texas in 1984.

Ingredients
  • 3 pounds spareribs
  • 4 cups sauerkraut with juice
  • 2 tart apples peeled and chopped
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 small white onion
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 450 then cut ribs into serving pieces and place in rectangular baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and pepper then bake uncovered 20 minutes and reduce heat to 350.
  3. Remove ribs then drain fat from pan.
  4. In same pan combine sauerkraut, sugar, apples, onions and water and spread evenly in pan.
  5. Arrange ribs on top then bake uncovered for 2 hours stirring occasionally.
