How to make it

  • Line an 8-in square pan with saran wrap and set aside.
  • Combine caramels, milk chocolate chips and cream in microwaveable bowl.
  • Microwave uncovered on high for 1 minute then stir.
  • Microwave for 1 minute longer, stirring every 15 seconds or until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth.
  • Spread mixture into plastic-coated pan and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
  • Cut chilled candy into 30 pieces and roll each into a ball.
  • Melt semi-sweet chips and shortening in the microwave, stirring frequently, until smooth.
  • Dip caramel balls in chocolate and place on waxed paper.
  • Refrigerate until firm.
