How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350ยบ F.
  • Grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • Beat together 1 stick butter, flour, 1 cup sugar, and the egg.
  • Press mixture into the bottom of the pan.
  • Bake until golden brown (10 to 15 minutes).
  • Mix together the other stick of butter, remaining sugar, honey, and cream in a small pot on medium heat.
  • Cook until it bubbles and continue boiling over medium heat until soft-ball stage.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the almonds.
  • Quickly pour over the crust and bake again until the top is browned (5 to 15 minutes).

    I do indeed enjoy Japanese desserts. Though, I must admit never seeing cookies amongst their list of desserts.

    But I suppose, Japan too is becoming more Westernize.
