Whole Oat Flapjacks Recipe
These are made with whole oats (sometimes called jumbo oats) I think taste that little bit better.

Ingredients
  • 175g (6 oz) whole oats (or you could use porridge oats I have not used them)
  • 1 rounded dessertspoon golden syrup
  • 110g (4 oz) soft brown sugar
  • 110g (4 oz) butter or margarine
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger

Directions
  1. Preheat oven 150c / Gas 2
  2. lightly grease a 7 or 8-inch (18 or 20 cm) square baking tin at least 1 1/2 inches (4cm) deep
  3. Put sugar ,butter and golden syrup in a saucepan and heat gently until the butter has melted,stirring now and again.
  4. Take the saucepan off the heat and stir in the oats and ginger, mixing thoroughly
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and press it out evenly, using the back of a spoon or even your hand
  6. Bake in the centre of the oven for 40-45 minutes
  7. Allow it to cool in the tin for about 10 minutes before cutting into oblong bars
  8. Leave in the tin until thoroughly cold before removing them
  9. Store in a tin
