I like this a lot, although perhaps walnuts would go better with apples--matter of preference, I suppose--and it definitely solves the problem of how to avoid a soggy bottom crust! I'm making one for tomorrow (as American as....) and I'll let you know.

Sounds like fun!! cinnamon??? For me, I hate the calories from crust, so I roll my crust as thin as I can (haven't done it in Buffalo yet), lay it out on a pizza pan sheet. Next, pile the apples(very thinly sliced)into the center of the dough, and fold up the sides, and gently stretch the dough into a pleasing arrangement, leaving an uncovered space on the top.

When I refer to "in Buffalo" this is what I'm talking about: this past Christmas, trying to roll out sugar cookies in this house with DRY environment to counter the outdoor cold, it was a Mess!!I still have 3/4 of the cookie dough in the freezer! very frustrating. I need new tricks to bake in the east, me thinks!!

I DO like your recipe, and Love the Title: topsy turvy!! (hopefully that is going to happen to the cheney-bush-rummy regime very soon)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! and 5 forks raised high in the sky!! trish

Delightful! My ten goes out to you, Joyce..
