Mushroom And Cheddar Cheese Pie

- 3 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced shopping list
- 1-1/2 pounds mushrooms, sliced shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese, shredded shopping list
- 1 egg yolk shopping list
- 1 tablespoon water shopping list
- 9 inch pastry shell & top - frozen does the job shopping list
How to make it
- Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook 2 minutes.
- Add mushrooms, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Drain mushroom mixture.
- Heat oven to 375-degrees.
- Combine mushrooms and cheese.
- Mix well.
- Turn into pastry shell.
- Arrange pastry strips, lattice fashion on top of filling (Use full top and cut design in it).
- Trim the ends even with edges of shell.
- Moisten and fold overhang over strip ends.
- Flute edges.
- Beat egg yolk and water.
- Brush over pastry.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until pastry is golden.
- Serve hot or cold.
- Better to let cool for 5 to 10 minutes before cutting.
- Makes 6 to 8 slices.
