Navy Bean Soup Recipe
This is a wonderful healthy meal that your family will love! I like to add some corn bread to this!

Ingredients
  • 1 (16 ounce) bag of dried navy beans
  • 7 c. water
  • 1 ham bone for flavor
  • 2 c. diced ham
  • 1/4 c. minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 c. sliced carrots
  • 1/2 c. sliced celery

Directions
  1. Add water to large pot and add beans.
  2. Bring to boil, let boil for 2 min, take off from heat.
  3. Cover with lid and let simmer for at least an hour.
  4. Place pot back on medium heat. Add the ham bone, the cubed ham, onion salt, pepper and the bay leaf. You will reduce the heat, and let it gently simmer for about an hour and a half. The beans will be soft to touch.
  5. It is recommended to skim the soup during the cooking process.
  6. Add carrots and celery, letting the cook until tender.
  7. Once the veggies are tender, remover the ham bone, getting any excess meat from bone.
  8. Add the meat back to soup and serve!
