Open Face Caprese Sandwich Recipe
Just a simple version of a caprese salad turned into a sandwich

Ingredients
  • 4 slices of thick italian bread
  • 8 slices fresh mozzerella cheese
  • 1 tomato
  • 8 fresh basil leaves
  • balsamic vinegar
  • good extra virgin olive oil

Directions
  1. Preheat broiler
  2. slice the cheese
  3. slice the bread
  4. slice the tomato
  5. place 2 slices cheese on each piece of bread
  6. place 2 basil leaves on cheese
  7. place tomato slices on top
  8. add a little cracked pepper and salt to tomato
  9. broil till cheese is hot and bubbly
  10. place on a platter drizzle with balsamic and olive oil
  11. Enjoy

My daughter makes these as cold sandwiches all the time - one of her favorites. I have to suggest to her that she try it broiled as you do...that sounds really good that way, too. I like the drizzle of balsamic and oo over the warm sandwich - another great sandwich idea from THE KING OF SANDWICHES!!!


I love making these with all fresh organic produce.
