How to make it

  • Put a large pot of salted water on stove to boil.
  • When boiling, cook ditalini until al dente, about 10 minutes.
  • Drain and set aside.
  • In another large pot heat olive oil and saute onion over medium heat until soft.
  • Add garlic and saute a few seconds more.
  • Add marinara sauce and water and simmer about 10 minutes.
  • Add beans and continue to simmer until heated through.
  • Add pasta and mix well.
  • If sauce is too thick, add a little water to thin it.
  • Serve in a large bowl with grated and parsley garnish.

I'm happy to have made you guys happy! Being Italian, I have never added any meat to the soup, but now I can try Fagioli ala Juels and use sausage and add hamburger and veggies for tink and henrie's versions. I think that's what a soup is all about.. adding, subtracting and having it still be perfect! Thanks, my friends!

I love Pasta Fagioli! I add some carrots, bacon and ground sausage to mine. As ditalini cooks, it gets bits of sausage inside. This recipe is a vegetarian version of soup. Very nice!
