How to make it

  • French Toast: Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar & cinnamon. Arrange bread slices in 9-in baking dish. Pour over egg mixture, turning to coat. Let stand for 20 minutes.
  • Apple Topping: Melt 4 Tablespoons butter in skillet. Mix in sugar. Add apples & cook until syrup turns deep golden brown, about 20 minutes. Add rum & bring to boil. Set aside.
  • Melt remaining butter in skillet. Add bread slices and cook until golden on both sides.
  • Arrange bread slices on plates. Bring apples to a simmer then spoon apple mixture over the french toast. Serve warm.
