French Toast with Apples Sauteed in Rum

- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1/3 cup milk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 4 slices French bread, cut 1 inch thick shopping list
- APPLE TOPPING shopping list
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 in. slices shopping list
- 1/4 cup rum shopping list
How to make it
- French Toast: Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar & cinnamon. Arrange bread slices in 9-in baking dish. Pour over egg mixture, turning to coat. Let stand for 20 minutes.
- Apple Topping: Melt 4 Tablespoons butter in skillet. Mix in sugar. Add apples & cook until syrup turns deep golden brown, about 20 minutes. Add rum & bring to boil. Set aside.
- Melt remaining butter in skillet. Add bread slices and cook until golden on both sides.
- Arrange bread slices on plates. Bring apples to a simmer then spoon apple mixture over the french toast. Serve warm.
