How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cut chicken into small serving size pieces.
  • Wipe dry wth a paper towel.
  • Sprinkle with garlic salt and roll in the flour.
  • Put oil in skillet and cook chicken until lightly browned.
  • Drain chicken and place in a shallow casserole dish.
  • Make sauce by mixing sugar, stock, vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup and corn starch.
  • Pour over the chicken.
  • Bake in a 350°F oven for 1 hour, turning once.

    This was pretty good. It was a bit sweet. I didn't get much sour. 10 Tbs of sugar is 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbs. I think 1/2 cup is what I would use if I made this again. Maybe a bit less. I don't think that it needs to cook for one hour. I think 45 minutes would have been plenty especially as you brown those little bite sized pieces in some oil first. I flipped it all over at 1/2 hour and it was pretty sticky then. But, I only used three thighs - not two pounds - so that may make a difference. I added a couple of pictures and a thread in IMI 9/22/13
