Elaines Bacon And Egg Flan

- For the pastry: shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups cake & pastry flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup creamery butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- Combine dry ingredients, then add the butter. shopping list
- Mix the butter in the flour until a crumbly consistency is achieved shopping list
- add the whole egg shopping list
- mix well shopping list
- add the water gradually, and mix until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl easily. shopping list
- Set aside. shopping list
- The mixture: shopping list
- 4 slices Velveeta cheese shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 6 - 7 slices bacon, cooked crisply shopping list
- 2 tsp dried parsley flakes shopping list
- 1/4 tsp dried chiles shopping list
- 1 tbsp dehydrated onion flakes shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- dash cold water (this makes the eggs fluffier on cooking) shopping list
How to make it
- Cook the bacon between paper towels in the microwave to crisp
- remove from micro, allow to cool and then break bacon into little pieces
- In a bowl, combine the eggs, salt, parsley and chilis.
- Mix well.
- preheat oven to 350*F
- Roll out the pastry and place into flan pan, covering bottom and rim
- bake the shell until just firm, to avoid a soggy crust
- Remove from oven, but leave the oven on...
- allow the crust to rest about 5 minutes until cool enough to pour the mixture into it
- pour the mixture into it, then sprinkle with the bacon bits
- cover with slices of cheese, whole, or broken as to your preference.
- Bake until the egg mixture is firm, and the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from heat; allow to rest to firm up (about minutes), and serve.
