Cornish Pasties

- 1 lb. round steak shopping list
- 2 potatoes--peeled shopping list
- 1 medium turnip--peeled shopping list
- 1 onion shopping list
- 3 pkgs pie crust mix (Pillsbury or Betty Crocker) shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Cut meat , potatoes and turnip into cubes.
- Chop onions.
- Place these into separate small bowls.
- Mix each package of pastry dough separately, according to package directions.
- Roll dough out on a floured board and cut circles the size of a luncheon plate ( you will make 10 8-inch circles). (each package makes 3 1/3 circles) Make circles about 1/8 inch thick.
- Place dough circles on 3 foiled covered baking sheets.
- Divide fillings equally onto one half of each pastie circle
- Sprinkle each with some salt and pepper to taste.
- Fold circles over in half over filling and seal edges well with a little bit of water on your finger.
- Seal completely by scoring the sealed edge with the tines of a fork.
- Poke a few holes in the top of each one with a fork to let out steam while baking.
- Bake two pans at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Rotate pans from top and bottom shelves of oven.
- Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 1 hour more.
- Watch carefully during last 10 minutes for scorching around edges.
- Bake 3rd pan,after reheating the oven to 450 degrees and follow baking directions above.
- Serve with butter or sour cream on top.
- Extras may be frozen.
- Yummy!
