Crab Toasts
From krumkake 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 (6 ounce) can crabmeat, drained and flaked (use a good quality crabmeat - I don't recommend using imitation crab for this) shopping list
- 1 (5 ounce) jar Old English Sharp cheese spread (a Kraft product, sometimes found refrigerated and sometimes on the shelf, depending on the grocery store) shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened shopping list
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (do not substitute) shopping list
- ¼ teaspoon garlic salt shopping list
- ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seafood seasoning (optional, but nice addition to flavor) shopping list
- 24 slices cocktail pumpernickel bread, toasted** shopping list
How to make it
- Mix together all of the ingredients except the bread slices.
- Spread one side of toasted bread with the crabmeat mixture; place bread on cookie sheet.
- Broil until the tops are just lightly browned.
- Serve immediately.
- **To toast the small cocktail bread slices easily, line a cookie sheet with the bread slices; place in a preheated 425 degree oven.
- Watch bread carefully, as bottoms should brown first.
- When bottoms are slightly toasted, flip the slices and continue to bake until other side is lightly toasted.
