The five flavors in this cake come from five extracts: lemon, vanilla, butter, rum, and almond. Pour on the sweet delicious glaze and I dare you to eat only one piece.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 sticks butter,softened
  • 5 eggs-room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk-room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter extract
  • 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter extract
  • 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour one 12-cup tube or bundt pan. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Sift together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour.
  5. Stir in extracts.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
  7. Glaze:
  8. Near the end of baking time, combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  9. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  10. Remove cake from oven and let sit in pan for 10 minutes.
  11. Turn cake out onto wire rack with shallow pan underneath.
  12. Pour glaze over hot cake then cool completely.
  13. Serve with fruit and whipped topping if desired.

  15. Experiment with different extracts if you like or use more than five.
