5 Flavor Pound Cake

- 3 cups sugar shopping list
- 3 sticks butter,softened shopping list
- 5 eggs-room temperature shopping list
- 3 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1 cup milk-room temperature shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon butter extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon rum extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon almond extract shopping list
- Glaze: shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon butter extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon rum extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon almond extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour one 12-cup tube or bundt pan. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Sift together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour.
- Stir in extracts.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
- Glaze:
- Near the end of baking time, combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Remove cake from oven and let sit in pan for 10 minutes.
- Turn cake out onto wire rack with shallow pan underneath.
- Pour glaze over hot cake then cool completely.
- Serve with fruit and whipped topping if desired.
- Note:
- Experiment with different extracts if you like or use more than five.
