How to make it

  • Place 1-1/3 cups chocolate chips in a bowl and melt over a double boiler.
  • Meanwhile whisk together eggs and vanilla extract then set aside.
  • Sift together flour and baking powder then set aside.
  • Once chocolate has melted stir in butter until completely incorporated.
  • Add brown sugar, egg and vanilla mixture mixing well.
  • Add flour mixture and mix until smooth.
  • Stir in remaining chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  • Refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight then preheat oven to 350.
  • Scoop dough onto greased baking sheet using a small ice cream scoop.
  • Flatten with the palm of your hand and sprinkle generously with sea salt.
  • Pat salt in gently then bake on middle rack of oven for 14 minutes.
  • Remove from oven then rest on cookie sheet 5 minutes then transfer to rack and cool.
