How to make it

  • Mash the potatoes and mix with all ingredients. Take care not to mash too much, the texture should be somewhat coarse.
  • Take a morsel size of the mix and make small round (about 1-1/2").
  • Press the ball between your palms to make it flat (to about a bread slice thickness)
  • Keep on a plate and repeat to make several round flats.
  • Heat the frying pan on medium flame and pour some ghee (or oil).
  • Put the vadas on the pan and fry them by pouring small quantity of ghee around occasionally.
  • Turn the vadas a few number of times till cooked thoroughly.
  • Serve hot with any chutney (or ketchup) of your choice. Garnish with coriander leaves.
