Barbecued Water Chestnuts Recipe
I love the sound of this recipe and it is on my next party list.... it is quick and easy... the recipe is from New England Recipes

Ingredients
  • 2 cans whole (not sliced) water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 dash soy sauce, optional

Directions
  1. Wrap chestnuts in 1/2 to 1/3 piece of bacon. Hold together with
  2. toothpicks Do this much in advance . The day of the event, broil
  3. or bake at 400F until bacon browns. Drain off bacon grease well.
  4. Mix ketchup, brown sugar and soy sauce well and pour over water
  5. chestnuts. Bake or broil until sauce is bubbly and tops of water
  6. chestnuts are slightly browned. Can also be kept hot in a slow-cooker
  7. before serving.

Wow, sounds really different! Might have to try this!


I love these. I made a different version as I dont use ketchup much.
Bottles open pit BBQ sause. 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp liquid smoke and the rest is the same.
