A New Spin On Pizza
From dollhead 14 years agoIngredients
- I took my usual pizza crust recipe & rolled it to 1/4" thick. shopping list
- Using a perforated pizza pan, I sprayed it with a "PAM" type stuff and laid my dough on it. I turned on my oven broiler to LOW, and my oven rack was about 3" from heat source. shopping list
- I slid my pan with the dough under the broiler for a few minutes until it just began to brown. shopping list
- I pulled the pan out, waited a minute or two and then I flipped the crust over on the pan and slid it under the broiler again. shopping list
- I let it brown slightly (less than the other side) then I pulled crust from the oven, dressed the pizza with sauce, veggies and cheeses. shopping list
- I put it under the broiler again and let it cook until the cheese began to brown & it looked done. shopping list
- This is similar to how you would cook a pizza on your BBQ outdoors. shopping list
How to make it
- I am sure this doesn't sound like a startling revelation to many of you seasoned cooks out there, but making my pizza this way totally altered the taste of the crust and its toppings-for us at least.
- Something about being under the broiler really makes the flavors sing, and it's got to be way more energy efficient using a broiler on low, than waiting for my oven to heat to 500° like I used to do!!
- Yes, you can use broiler on HIGH setting, but you better watch it close cuz It will burn fast.
- Try it and see what you think.
