How to make it

  • Stir sugar and warm water together in a small bowl.
  • Sprinkle yeast over top. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Stir to dissolve yeast.
  • Measure flour and salt together into a large bowl. Stir. Make a well in the center.
  • Add yeast mixture to the well. Stir with spoon until mixed.
  • Make a well once more and add the olive oil and water to the well.
  • Stir. Turn out onto a floured surface. Knead for 9-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in a greased bowl, turning once to coat with grease.
  • cover with a clean towel. Let stand in the oven with light on and the door closed for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until doubled in bulk.
  • Punch down. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Press or roll out to a 12-inch circle.
  • Makes 1 round flat bread.
  • Topping-Make dents with fingers in the surface of the dough. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with Zatar and sea salt. Let stand uncovered for 30 minutes. Bake at 400F for about 25 minutes. Serve warm or cold, cut into wedges.

    Zatar is a new spice blend for me .. but the combo that are in it are flavors that i like so I'm going to have to find some and use... on top of this recipe Yum... five forks
