How to make it

  • In a saucepan, bring rice and water to the boil.
  • Gradually add milk and sugar. Simmer for 30 minutes stirring occasionally to prevent rice from sticking to the base of the saucepan.
  • When rice is tender remove from heat and add vanilla essence.
  • Mixture will thicken as it cools. Serve warm or cold.
