Swedish Hamburgers Recipe
We had a huge neighborhood burger cookoff to raise money for a neighbor whose house burnt down and this one was voted most unusual burger. It's actually pretty good. The capers and beets give it a new twist. Enjoy

Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 medium white onion chopped
  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped canned beets
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped capers
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 fried eggs

Directions
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a small skillet over moderate heat and sauté onion 5 minutes.
  2. Combine with ground beef, egg yolks, cream, beets, capers and vinegar in bowl.
  3. Form into 4 large patties.
  4. Heat remaining butter and oil in large skillet over moderate heat.
  5. Fry patties 4 minutes per side then serve on buns topped with eggs and condiments of choice.

Now that is definitely a different take on a burger - and I'm half Swedish, so will have to try this one. I do like beets, and love capers, so how can I go wrong?!
