Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat the oven to 175°C or 350°F
  • Lay a sheet of pasta frolla in a 9" tart pan with a removable bottom.
  • Mix the grated fresh ginger into the plum jam
  • Spread the jam over the bottom crust.
  • Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the tart jam
  • Cut the other piece of pastry into strips and lay them over the jam layer in a lattice pattern-- it doesn't actually have to interlace, just make the pattern.
  • Put into the oven and cook to golden.
  • Cool before slicing.
  • Serve with a pool of fresh, unsweetened heavy cream on the plate next to the piece of crostata.

Pasta just means dough in Italian. You have to modify the noun to know what you're talking about. Pasta Frolla is a pastry dough like pie dough. It can be sweet or not.

What one means when saying pasta in other countries is pasta asciutta or pasta fresca-- various kinds of noodley things.

I have added a recipe for pasta frolla for those who don't already have one. It is what is called a cookie-type crust in the USA.

Bear with me. Is this a sweetened type of pasta? We have a local Italian market where I have purchased sheets of pasta, is this different?
