Starwberry Lime Jello Dream Dessert Recipe

Ingredients

How to make it

  • Allow frozen strawberries to thaw
  • Dissolve Jello in 2 c boiling water
  • Zest one lime, reserve the zest
  • Squeeze two limes into 2 c measuring cup
  • Add 2 t of the liquid from strawberries
  • Add enough icy cold water to make 1 3/4 c liquid
  • Stir into jello
  • Allow to chill 2-3 hours, until thick but not quite set
  • Drain strawberries, and reserve syrup for use as ice cream topping, etc.
  • Prepare Dream Whip according to package directions
  • Fold drained strawberries, lime zest and prepared Dream Whip into jello, and chill for another hour
  • **NOTES**
  • I always cut back on the cold water when adding fruit to jello, this allows it to set a little better, without being "soupy"
  • Dream Whip can be found on the aisle with the jello and pudding mixes, I use it in recipes like this because I think it holds up better than cool whip (that may be because my Mom always told me that...she was never a cool whip fan...LOL).
