How to make it

  • Beat egg whites with half of sugar until they form peaks
  • Beat egg yolks with other half of sugar
  • fold the egg/sugar mixtures into your flour and baking powder, alternately
  • pour cake mix into spring form bake tin and bake for approx. 20 min at 375
  • allow cake to cool in tin (DO NOT remove from tin)
  • mix together your milks and your vanilla
  • use a toothpick to make holes all over the surface of the cooled cake
  • Use a tbsp to cover the top of the cake with the milks and be sure to pour down the sides of the cake tin
  • Leave to stand for approx 45 min (until all of the mixture has been absorbed into the cake)
  • Remove cake from tin
  • Mix together icing ingredients and cover cake.
  • Serve with any remaining suero.
  • FOR A CHOCOLATEY VERSION
  • Add 1/3 cup of cocoa to flour mix
  • Add 1/3 cup of Kahluah to the suero
  • Add 1 tbsp cocoa to icing (and I like to add chocolate sprinkles...)
