pastel de tres leches Three Milk Cake

- cake shopping list
- 6 eggs separated shopping list
- 1 cup of flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar separated shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- SUERO shopping list
- 1tin condensed milk (14oz) shopping list
- 1 tin media crema (7.6 fl oz) I think this is half and half? shopping list
- 1 tin evaporated milk (5 fl oz) shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
- icing shopping list
- 1 cup whipping cream shopping list
- 2 tbsp caster sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Beat egg whites with half of sugar until they form peaks
- Beat egg yolks with other half of sugar
- fold the egg/sugar mixtures into your flour and baking powder, alternately
- pour cake mix into spring form bake tin and bake for approx. 20 min at 375
- allow cake to cool in tin (DO NOT remove from tin)
- mix together your milks and your vanilla
- use a toothpick to make holes all over the surface of the cooled cake
- Use a tbsp to cover the top of the cake with the milks and be sure to pour down the sides of the cake tin
- Leave to stand for approx 45 min (until all of the mixture has been absorbed into the cake)
- Remove cake from tin
- Mix together icing ingredients and cover cake.
- Serve with any remaining suero.
- FOR A CHOCOLATEY VERSION
- Add 1/3 cup of cocoa to flour mix
- Add 1/3 cup of Kahluah to the suero
- Add 1 tbsp cocoa to icing (and I like to add chocolate sprinkles...)
