How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400F, with 10" cast iron skillet inside
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients IN ORDER, in a large bowl
  • Take skillet out of oven carefully, add margarine, return to oven to melt
  • Remove skillet after margarine is bubbling, and pour cornbread mix on top, straight into the middle--lightly swirl any marg. that pools
  • Return skillet to bake for about 20 minutes, until sides are browned and pulling away from the skillet, and a knife or toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  • Slice and serve!

    Skillet cornbread,can hardly be beat,and the buttermilk,instead of sweet...sounds really nice.
