How to make it
- Drain tofu in a colander about 30 minutes
- Slice or cut into cubes as desired
- Mix coating ingrdients
- Meanwhile add oil ( peanut, or corn or canola ) to skillet about 1/2 inch deep and heat to medium high
- Gently coat all sides of tofu in coating mixture and add to pan and fry and turn with spatula until golden or as desired.
- Have patience as this may take a bit longer than you think it should
- Drain tofu on toweling paper.
- Remove excess oil from pan except for a few Tbs and add the vegetables and sliced mushrooms and stir cook till desired tenderness and vegetables well heated.
- Remove from pan, place vegetables on platter surround with tofu.
- Either pour desired sauce over the whole dish, or mix sauce separately into vegetables or serve choices of sauces served on the side.
- Notte; I always steam crisp my veges prior to stir frying since many of the family do not like veges too crsip and it also speeds cooking time of the dish
- Fried tofu is bland and one may add other spices to the coating such as chili powder, garlic powder, etc to kick up the taste
