Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt chocolate.
  • Add water and sugar and cook in double broiler until smooth. (nowadays it could probably be done easier in a bowl in the microwave, add chocolate water and sugar and start with 2 minutes and then every 45-60sec stirring until smooth)
  • When chocolate is cool, add vanilla and egg yolks, one at at time, beating after each addition.
  • When thoroughly cool, add stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Line pan with ladyfingers and pour in mixture.
  • Refrigerate 4-5 hours.
  • Serve with whipped cream and maraschino cherry.

This sounds delicious. Interesting with the raw eggs. I eat them in desserts and homemade mayonnaise often and have never had a problem. The eggs and the finished dish must be kept refridgerated until just before serving. And I wouldn't serve it to children.

This sounds good except for the raw egg thing. These eggs are not cooked at all. I guess this is why you don't see this recipe anymore  does anyone have any ideas?
