How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325F
  • Great & flour 10: tube or 12c bundt pan
  • Mix cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, oil, water, and 1/2 c of the rum
  • Bake until toothpick comes out clean (ca. 45 mins, but watch carefully)
  • Invert cake on serving plate
  • Melt butter in saucepan
  • Stir in water and sugar
  • Boil 5 mins
  • Turn off heat then stir in remaining rum
  • Spoon glaze slowly over cake, allowing rum to be soaked up slowly

    Oh, fun stuff. I like "Talk like a pirate day" too. Of course this would be a natural for Gasparilla in Tampa...everyone has a rum cake that day.
