How to make it

  • Dissolve yeast in water
  • Add sugar, salt and short­ening. Mix well
  • Add flour gradually
  • Knead until smooth and elastic
  • Let rise until double in bulk about 1 hour
  • Punch down. Let rise for 30 min
  • Divide into 2
  • Roll out 1 ball into an oblong
  • Roll up on the long side. Seal with each turn
  • Let rest for 5 min
  • Cut into desired size.
  • Roll in crumbs
  • Arrange on an un-greased sheet which has been dusted with bread crumbs
  • Place on the sheet with the cut side up
  • Let rise for 1 hour or until double in size
  • Bake at 400°F for 15 min.
