- 1 cup Toovar daal (Arhar) shopping list
- 1 onion (chopped) shopping list
- 1 tomato (chopped) shopping list
- Any vegetable (Potato, capsicum, pumpkin, peas, cabbage, cauliflower, brinjals, drumstick). All cubed into small pieces. shopping list
- 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp (imli) shopping list
- 2-3 red chillies shopping list
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds shopping list
- 4 curry leaves shopping list
- 2 tablespoons oil shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing) shopping list
- salt and red chillies (powdered form) to taste. shopping list
How to make it
- Wash and pressure cook the dal and the vegetables with 2 cups of water.
- Add oil in a separate pan. After 1 minute, add mustard seeds.Once they crackle, add curry leaves , red chilies and hing to it.
- After 1 minute, add onions. When they become reddish brown, add tomatoes. Once the gravy is prepared add salt, powdered red chillies, tamarind pulp to it.
- Cook this paste for 3-4 minutes. Then add daal and vegetables (which u pressure cooked earlier).
- Cook for another 10-15 minutes.
- Serve hot.
