How to make it

  • Wash and pressure cook the dal and the vegetables with 2 cups of water.
  • Add oil in a separate pan. After 1 minute, add mustard seeds.Once they crackle, add curry leaves , red chilies and hing to it.
  • After 1 minute, add onions. When they become reddish brown, add tomatoes. Once the gravy is prepared add salt, powdered red chillies, tamarind pulp to it.
  • Cook this paste for 3-4 minutes. Then add daal and vegetables (which u pressure cooked earlier).
  • Cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
