Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe
Old pound cake my mom had in the 1960's at a friend's home in the Smokey Mountains. Very good with just a dusting of powdered sugar. Chocolate flavor is not overwhelming. Easily halves for a small bundt cake.

Ingredients
  • 1 c soft Butter
  • 1/2 c Shortening
  • 3 c Sugar
  • 5 Eggs
  • 4 Tbls Cocoa
  • 3 c Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 c Milk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 325. Grease & flour bundt pan.
  2. Sift together cocoa, flour, salt & baking powder. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter & shortening till fluffy.
  4. Add sugar 2 Tbls at a time.
  5. Add eggs one at a time beating two minutes after each.
  6. Beat above till well mixed & very light & fluffy.
  7. Add sifted ingredients alternately with milk & vanilla beating till well blended.
  8. Pour into pan & bake till tests clean, appoximately 90 minutes.
  9. Cool 15 - 20 minutes in pan, then invert to wire rack to cool.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Frosting not reccomended.
