  • Prepare medium hot fire for indirect cooking. Soak cedar plank for at least 2 hours before grilling. Combine all ingredients except salmon and onion into a paste. Put salmon on cedar plank and slather on paste. Cover lightly with onion slices. Grill for 10-12 minutes until salmon flakes with a fork, onion slices soften..

    My first time using a cedar plank. I really loved this! I had .75 pound of salmon so I halved the butter mixture. I cooked my salmon on the plank over charcoal for about 15 minutes. My onions were soft/crispy and I really liked that. The butter has a fantastic spicy/sweet/smokey thing going on! I used smoked paprika. I didn't have cumin so I just used chili powder. Really delicious and I think that butter would make great bread. Put a bit of garlic in there and garlic bread heaven! I added a couple of pictures and put this in a thread in IMI on 7/4/14
