Bread And Butter Pudding Recipe
Tasty and filling dessert which is very popular (if a little old school) in England. I added the chocolate chips one day when I needed even more comfort.

Ingredients
  • 250g white bread (doesn't matter if it is a bit stale)
  • 30g butter (NOT margarine)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (or sultanas)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tin condensed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla (optional)

Directions
  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread and layer in an oven dish with raisins/sultanas and chocolate chips.
  2. Mix together sugar and egg and yolks until creamy
  3. gently heat condensed milk, but do not allow to boil
  4. add the egg/sugar mixture to the warm milk, mixing thoroughly
  5. pour mixture over bread in dish and leave to stand for 5 minutes. (It helps to press the bread a little bit to make sure it absorbs as much as possible.
  6. Bake in a medium hot over for approx 30 minutes (until sauce has set)
  7. Enjoy.
