How to make it

  • Melt chocolate squares in a 2 quart saucepan on medium heat on the stovetop
  • Fold in sugar
  • Add the Karo corn syrup and Carnation milk
  • Stir over medium heat until sugar and chocolate dissolve
  • Bring to boil and cook , stirring occasionally to 234 degrees or until soft ball stage forms in cold water
  • Remove from heat and cool to 110 degrees in same saucepan
  • When cool, add butter or margarine, vanilla extract, and chopped nuts
  • Beat by hand until candy loses it's gloss and pour into a butterered dish
  • Let set, lick the spoon in the meantime, and then cut into squares.
  • Enjoy!
