Hello all....Happy Easter! My husband and I are taking the kids for a week long cabin trip to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. I started this group to hopefully gain some knowledge from my fellow foodies about what to bring, cook, and buy for our trip. This is the first time doing this for me and I could really use some advice!

    fun stuff:
    Marshmellows, Hershey bars, graham crackers!
Mountain pies and bannana boats are big hits with kids
Camping is all about relaxing and having fun. I would recommend easy, simple meals.

Actually, I'd recommend this nice Holiday Inn right near where you're going!! I'm kidding...camping is great for kids and famiies...You get to learn about mosquito's, snakes and outdoor toilets...(again Kidding).
Yup...camprecipes.com, is a great place to start....I'm assuming you have all your GEAR purchased already...and again as Skman said...simple meals...sausage, pre-pattied burgers, hot dogs, and for the last night, a couple nice juicy ribeye's....and bring lotsa coffee and a pot that will perc it over a campfire!!

I used to love camping, but we had a nasty experience many years ago, and decided we were Holiday Inn sorta campers after that...But you'll be fine....just stick to the beaten path..don't blaze your own trails to a campsite in the middle of nowhere and you'll be fine...!! have a great time!!

Hey Jacksonrendezvous...I have lived within an hour of the Smoky Mountains my entire life!!! You will have a ball!

What area will you be in? I can give you some great info on attractions, stores, etc. I am full of info!! Grew up going to mountains almost every weekend, and, also get a cabin 2 or 3 times a year. I've stayed all over. Great fun!!!

Send me a PM if you want, or, I will be glad to answer here, too!

Most of the cabins have dishes, pans, blender, dish detergent, etc. There should also be a charcoal grill. But, you will need to bring your own charcoal, lighter, etc.

You will need to bring things like aluminum foil, plastic wrap, any staples, spices, etc. that you will want. Also, I have thrown in my big electric skillet and favorite knife, just in case.
