Answer to B). They are all plants. They can be used as spices or flavorings to food dishes.

Probably not the answer you are angling for but a correct answer nonetheless.

    A) The Quaker Man of Quaker Oats.

    OATS
Oats are a cereal grain used primarily as food for livestock, with only about 5% of the world crop being consumed by humans. The plants make excellent straw, and the hulls are a source of the chemical furfural, used as an industrial solvent.
Theophrastus and Pliny believed that oats were a diseased form of wheat.
Quaker Oats, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is the largest cereal company in the world.

    B) They are all in the mint family.

    MINT FAMILY
All of the herb plants in the mint family are native to the Mediterranean except sweet basil, which is from tropical Africa and Asia.
The mint family includes thyme, sages, lavender, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, savory, hyssops, basil, the various mints, catnip, betony, horehound and many other herbs important to cooking and herbal medicine.
Members of the mint family, Labiatae, have hairlike oil glands on the leaves and stems, the essential oil from these glands are what makes this family of plants so valuable as a flavoring.

So you were close with the lavender.
