I do, I do!!! But I have to get home to post my chili recipe. I have several actually. Chili seems to be a versatile dish that can take on MANY variations...and I love almost all of Them!!!! Wish we could post cornbread recipes to go with :D

I don't see why you can't post your cornbread recipe here. I don't think Doug will complain too much. If he does, I will smack him with his cane. :)

Hubby loves cornbread and I have collected many delicious sounding recipes for him, courtesy of the many posters of grouprecipes.
He likes those cast iron muffin and corn ear shaped molds. He likes one of the latest that we picked up at Old Time Pottery, a smaller mold that makes the bread rather dry, which he likes.
Anyone out there use those cast iron mold/pans? He even takes them on the guy/macho camping trips!

But I have one that has the corn mold shapes. I need to oil it and get it back into shape. Came from my Grandma...

No smacking...those things come around to get you later... :D

Okay. Well you have me digging through my recipes AGAIN, which is good for me except that I have a NEW pile of what I want to cook in the immediate future.

I usually only make chili during the fall and winter because I am off and running with new summer dishes but now my husband has heard the infamous word *chili* and his eyes have lit up...groan, so I am setting other things aside to get started.

I think we have 3 sizes of corn molds and a muffin mold.
The most recent is the tiny ears.
Hubby has an old one that belonged to his mom and hasn't been used much recently. I have a feeling he will be making lots of cornbread this year as his garden is bursting right now with lots of hot peppers, many of which will be dried for cooking purposes. Since he like spicy, he will certainly be making lots of spicy cornbread, to go with his chili or beans.

You know, it is funny how I never consider something obvious until someone else says something and then **Ding**, a lightbulb goes off! Spicy cornbread. What a great idea. I add bacon to my cornbread batter just before pouring it into the pan if I want a variation.

I have several of the molds, I just don't use them as often as I used to .. It's easier to put in one cast pan and bake.. I love the cast iron for a lot of my recipes...

Not to worry... whatever floats your boat. I too have cornbread recipes and my grandmother's old cast iron cornstick molds. Maybe that is next.

To a comment earlier, yeah I think the groups are misunderstood. Like many features on this site they are a work in progress.

But hell, if you want to post a fruit salad recipe here it is ok by me.. (protecting my canes from da pigg). LOL

    Doug,
Didn't you notice the change in the group title???...chili and cornbread.....
At least there are a few of the groups that are really active, making friends and sharing ideas.
We just had to find the right ones!
    Beth, looking for da cane...
