Group administration...

I need to correct the name of one of my created groups, which I tried through the prescribed method. However, the change doesn't take. Advise please.

Also, is adding recipes to groups similar to what it was before?

What *exactly* happens after you click "update settings"? Do you get the "Success! Your group has been updated." message? Also, what is the title you are trying to change to?

Adding to a group is a little different. We only allow *owners* of a recipe to add their uploads to a group. This prevents abuse, and more importantly creates a closer-knit groups.

Just a little something for you to consider Kris. I created the Velveeta group and whenever I come across a recipe that has Velveeta as an ingredient, I like to add it to the group. I would love to be able to easily suggest/request to the owner of the recipe to add it himself or herself. By just sending them a message, it would entail them having to join my group before they could add it. Therefore, it would be so cool if we could have a “suggest group for this recipe” button, where the owner can just accept or deny the request without having to join the group. Sound like a compromise to you?

The group is called "Rmertoph Clay Pot Cookery". The first word is misspelled because I tried to spell it with the correct type of German "O" by copying and pasting the correct font from my word processor and your program omitted that letter. So with this new program launch, I tried to correct it by just using a plain "O" and the program didn't do anything after I clicked on the button.

I echo lovebreezy's sentiments re adding recipes to groups. I know that you mentioned past abuse in this regard, but I'm puzzled as to how this can be abusive. The reason I did this prior to the new program launch was to give new (old as well) recipes that I like, greater exposure. I think I currently belong to 80+ groups and usually do the adding of my own recipes to groups, but was always flattered when someone added my recipes to unfamiliar groups.

I haven't checked on the Romertopf group lately. I think I'll try to correct the name again, and then I'll let you know if the correction took.

    Thanks for all you do.

    Windy,

When you click "Update Settings", the page doesn't reload and show "Success! Your group has been updated."?

As far as non-owner group adds, this is something we will re-evaluate once things settle down a bit. It was a feature that certainly had its benefits, but it also had problems. When we are ready to re-address this, we'll post a thread and solicit input. Stay tuned.

    @ Kristopher
Glad to hear that you will consider my suggestion in the future. For now, I am just sending a request to the owner of a recipe to add it to a group that I suggest. Don't think this method will turn out to be very successful though. Most of the time it will not really matter that much to me if the owner complies, however there are/will be some that I really MUST get attached to a specific group e.g. Velveeta recipes :-)

No, it does not, and I just tried it again (Sunday, 930 hrs)

    That'll work. Thanks!! ;-)

Yeah, I've been increasingly wanting an edit option. It will certainly jump up a few spots on the todo list. :)

Good to see you back Keni! Haven't seen you in a bit.

I love Breezy's suggestion. That really does leave control with the owner but still helps us groupies out.

Agree. Lovebreezy's suggestion is a good one, and it will be discussed in the future.

Thank you, Kristopher, no, I've been away for a bit. I guess I shouldn't be surprised you noticed... thorns in sides and all that. :)

You already know I agree with Breezy's suggestion, that's what I said way back on the first thread about this topic... we just need permission to add to groups. And, the owner of the recipe has the option to remove it, too. Still totally in control of it, but, like I said in the previous discussion about it, I LOVE seeing my recipes added to southern cooking or from scratch type groups, etc, but I have no need or desire to join a bunch of groups. I share my recipes...SHARE them... that's the idea, right? :)

And, by the way, as my time away was far from a vacation, I had time to do nothing but think... and be warned, I have some new recipe ideas on the way! hehehe

oh...edit...yeah, we need that, sir. ;)

Yes, I do believe the page refreshed, but the desired change was not forthcoming.

Looking forward to your new creations. You're very inventive. I have many recipes I'd like to post but just never find the time. For being retired now, I can't belive how little computer time I have. Some day...

Thank you, Breezy... I'm excited to #1 be able to eat again, and #2 be able to cook again! :) One idea I have will either work great or it will be a total flop.... I also gotta get the ingredients for our COD recipe so I can create something from those... all on the agenda, soon! :)
