    In Edit! forgot this.

    10/25/2016 Recipe challenge, "Pumpkin"

Well, let me start by saying it's not bad! Just not something myself and hubs really cared for too much. Now step daughter who (Hates pumpkin) thinks its great! LOL! I did add double all of the seasoning also added onion powder, garlic powder and some pepper. It was very creamy and filling. Just was too strange for us the pumpkin was way too strong. but I would say if you like savory pumpkin you would definitely like this.

Hi Semi to bad it did not turn out the way you hoped for. I wonder if some nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger or even pumpkin pie spice might help?

Well at least you said it's not bad, Semi! :) I think we would love this, although, I can see the pumpkin being weird to some, but too funny your Step Daughter who hates pumpkin loves it!

I have a question about the recipe: It says 2 cans(15 ounces) pumpkin puree.
Does that mean 2 cans at 15 oz. or 15 oz all together?
Myself i read it as 2 15 oz. cans, and that would mean 30 oz.
Or am i reading it wrong.
Sorry if i sound a bit dim, just curious.

You read that right, Manella. That's two 15 oz. cans of pumpkin equalling 30 oz. I know it's pumpkin soup, but that's a *lot* of pumpkin compared to the rest of the ingredients (to me) and I think it should be a more subtle flavor.

Too bad it didn't turn out as expected. That is a lot of pumpkin! I thought about trying this until I saw the curry. That's a deal breaker for us. Can't get used to it now matter how hard we try.

DIZ change out the curry for a chipotle chili powder. it would work fine. Yes, Manella that is a lot of pumpkin. I don't really like the sweet pumpkin stuff too much. but I thought that the savory would be better. Like I said it was not bad. but I think unless you really like pumpkin you will need to doctor it quite a bit to tailor it to your families taste.

Sorry it didn't work out Semi! Can you add more stock to it to thin it out perhaps? Or is the taste off too?

I don't think the recipe should be called heart healthy and use cream! Lol!! The recipe reads ok, except the curry powder throws me off...and the 30oz of pumpkin!

I've seen similar recipes online, One Medical has this recipe but it uses sour cream or yogurt for a topping instead of cream, no curry powder, uses one can of pumpkin and adds 1 cup of corn. That sounds more like it :)
