Japanese Restaurant-style Salad Dressing

  • LindaLMT 7 years ago
    Japanese Restaurant Style Salad Dressing/
    Made for IMI2 Salad Challenge.
My review: This dressing is awesome! I just love it and literally am addicted to it. Most important to measure the ingredients because if you "eyeball" it you just may throw the balance off. Very popular recipe that often appears when searching for this type of dressing and for very good reason.

I love this dressing Shona. The first time I made it I very loosely measured the ingredients and I added way too much onion. Now I'm more diligent in measuring properly and it's perfect! I always have some made and in the fridge.

I think Jim would really like this dressing. How long can it keep for in the fridge do you think Linda? Nice pic.

I’ve kept it as long as 2 weeks, maybe even a little longer. It was fine.

Made this and it was delicious!! I followed the recipe exactly except that I used light olive oil in place of the peanut oil. Not sure how much that changed the flavor? I didn't think it tasted exactly like my local hibachi restaurants dressing but that could be because of the change of oil, or just because everywhere is a little different. Loved it regardless and so glad I have some leftover for another couple of salads :) Thanks Linda for posting bringing this recipe to the IMI II and thanks Twill for posting it! Added a picture :)

I've never had peanut oil but keep looking for it when I shop … I used Safflower oil, a light in texture and taste oil. I'm addicted to this dressing! And yes, every hibachi restaurant seems to make their dressing slightly different. I know mine uses dry mustard and applesauce, how much, I have no idea, but I'm very happy with this one. Love your photo Michelle!!

I've heard of safflower oil Linda, but have never used it. This recipe is definitely a keeper!
