Lasagna by Lor

    Made
    Lasagna
for dinner this evening. I haven`t made lasagna in years.

Perused lasagna recipes on the site. There`s a ton! But this one got a lot of likes.

I seasoned the hamburg with salt and pepper and followed all the instructions fine until I got to the point about pouring water into the empty sauce jar. I`d read an earlier review and saw that Frankieanne had commented that it was nice because you didn`t have to precook the noodles. Initially I thought perhaps the person had used those non cook lasagna noodles I`ve seen but I didn`t really pay attention and decided just to forge ahead and cook my lasagna noodles ahead of time.

I see now that the jar of water would have cooked the lasagna noodles but I`d also worry that the sauce would end up watery? I halved this recipe since it`s just the two of us and we have two servings left for lunch tomorrow.

The lasagna held together very nicely and had great flavour. I could just add more sauce next time, maybe another cup, and I think we`d love it.

Didn`t rate it as I didn`t follow the instructions exactly.

We are full. :) Cut in to the lasagna before I took my photo. Oops. :)

    Good morning Chuckieb
Your photos are very nice and delicious looking. i agree with you about adding more sauce as the noodles tend to suck it up.I do not understand about adding the water though.Could it be just to get the last of the sauce out of the bottle?Or am i missing something?

Delicious looking photo Janet! Has me wanting some. When I learned to make lasagna we never boiled our noodles and this was before non-cook noodles were on the market. There was always enough moisture in the ricotta and sauce.

It looks delicious, even when cut Janet :) I am too confused about the noodle, what's the point of the jar if the noodles are going to cook with the extra water in the lasgna? Maybe I need to go back and read it slower and see if I missed something lol :P

Nice photo, Chuckieb! I love lasagna! I've never tried the no-cook noodles. I always precook them. I tried a recipe one time that called for a can of vegetable broth and it did come out watery. The longer it sat, it eventually absorbed the liquid. The leftovers were perfect.

Eastcoaster and Michelle, the way I interpreted the recipe was that you use normal dried lasagna noodles but you don`t precook them. In the pan with the cooked hamburg, tomato sauce and garlic you pour the empty sauce jar that you`ve filled with water and blend it. This will of course dilute the tomato sauce but I guess when you layer all the ingredients in between the uncooked pasta noodles then while it`s baking, that extra moisture is going to cook the noodles.

That`s very interesting Linda that you never cooked your noodles either and I guess did it this same way. I`d never heard of it before.

    That`s what I was worried about DIZ3.

No big deal. It`s a very tasty lasagna. If I make it again I`ll just add more sauce. We`re eating the leftovers for dinner tonight and I`m just going to warm some extra sauce up and pour it over.

It looks delicious Janet! Leftover lasagne tastes sooo much better I find, enjoy!
I only use no-boil noodles now and would never go back, lol! The only time I use regular noodles that I don't pre-cook is in slow-cooker lasagna. :)
