Slo Cooker Chili

Recipe by Straybirds: Slo Cooker Chili/saved
Plenty of ingredients in this recipe to make it spicy hot. Couldn't find any hot-style tomato sauce so I whizzed up a can of Rotel hot-style diced tomatoes to make it resemble sauce. Didn't want the chili to be too spicy hot so I divided up the chili powder measure into 1T Ancho chili powder, 1T chipotle chili powder and 1T regular chili powder.
Wouldn't want to make the end result any hotter for me. Couldn't taste the burn until after I stopped chewing and swallowed.
    It's a good chili.
I'm assuming the crock time is just to let the ingredients flavors meld, since everything is already cooked.

I love chili and we eat it a lot. I have never seen the hot-style tomato sauce but I do remember Keni mentioning it in a couple of her recipes, so it does exist! I just bought some tomatillos, but don't have the ground pork or the pintos. I may make this next week after a grocery store run, looks delicious :)

It's starting to cool off a bit here and we are looking forward to some fall/winter meals we have only in cold weather, chili being one of them - yum!

Great looking chili, pso! Like the photo with all of the cheese. Looks like a good chili with a Mexican flare. Not sure I could handle all of the heat. The smoked ham hock is definitely unique.

Looks great Points! I love your toppings :)
I often hear that chili powder is spicy, but up here I've never, ever had spicy chili powder. Is there cayenne added to some Chili powders?

Chili powder can be put together with different degrees of heat. Guess it just depends on what type your local store carries. Or blend your own for that special flavor you want.

Thanks Points, I guess it depends where you live. All the different chili powders I bought over the years have been mild. I only learned of spicy chili powder since joining IMI :)
