    Baked Fruity Oatmeal
This sure smelled good while it was cooking. It didn't turn out how I expected. I expected a more solid consistency. I'll have to see if it firms up when its cooler but I doubt it. I made this thinking it would be dessert. I wish I had made it at breakfast time. :)

Would adding another cup of milk make it more like the standard breakfast oatmeal eaten with a spoon?

What type of oats did you use Frankie? I have some quick cooking ones to use up soon. Do you think I would need the extra cup of milk if I use them? Lovely looking yummy pic too!

I used regular rolled oats - not the quick kind. I think you'd have to look at adding the extra cup of milk as an experiment as I just made it the way it was written. An extra cup of milk will make the mixture more liquidy though. I would think.
You know, I was thinking that you could bake this up like it is then pour warm milk on it. That may be good as well. It is tasty. Its kinda like a moist cereal kinda thing. Still crumbly after it cooled, too.
I had a little bowl with whipped cream on it. :-)

Quite a bit of honey. Think I will back off on it to keep my blood-sugar in check. Doc is pushing me to have oatmeal for breakfast with just a small teaspoon of jelly.

It is quite a bit of honey. At first, I was going to make this with canned pineapple and I found a "recipe converter to calories" gadget online. One serving of this using brown sugar and pineapple was 374 calories and considered high in sugar content. Not very diet friendly. Might as well have it with ice cream like the recipe says.
That is usually how I eat my oatmeal, pso. With some jelly stirred into it. :)

Gee that is a huge amount of honey! I would cut it back no matter what! I never thought of the pineapple in it... that sounds really good. I am assuming you would drain the pineapple before adding it? I don't know, I always put brown sugar on my oatmeal but in this case, I am suspecting it would be too sweet to do that. I would definitely have to taste it before adding that!

OK, that is a ton of honey. I bet that would be great on ice cream. Yogurt, too

I haven't had oatmeal in forever!!! I think I might whip this up tonight for in the morning...I'm definitely gonna cut back some on that brown sugar, and definitely would not use honey in this since it's so darn expensive around here!

Yeah, I didn't want to use honey either, ml2c, because of the expense. I wonder how half and half would do - or maybe 3 oz of each.

I like the idea of 1/2 and 1/2, but I'm almost out of honey :(

Okay so I halved the recipe, but left the milk the same. As you can see from my picture it almost looks cakey. So, you could even add more milk to get a more oatmeal consistency. I forgot to cut back on the sugar some like I said, but glad I didn't honestly, it had a nice sweetness, not to much, maybe because I had doubled the milk?...Anyway I liked it, but would still like a more wet oatmeal....my add in's were chopped Macadamia nuts and dried cherries.

OK so this as the regular recipe is supposed to be a granola?

Interesting. That does look cakey. Did your kids like it?
Its moist, pso, not hard like granola. So, I don't think so.
