Brianna's Ginger Garlic Chicken

    Ginger Garlic Chicken

This recipe had been in my bookmarked list for some time...don't know why I had it in my head that this would be "sweet and sour" - I should have realized that the sauce HAS NO SWEET INGREDIENT! (@_@)

I loved the cornstarch coating on the chicken, the chicken was extremely tender, and the sauce was really good even if it wasn't sweet. :)

But instead of stir frying the ginger and the garlic, I added fresh grated ginger to the sauce as well as garlic POWDER, and only used about 1/2 tsp - not the equivalent of 10 cloves!

Thanks, Frankieanne! It's been rainy here off and on all day and it must have invigorated the hummers. The male hummers always migrate first, so they've been gone for about week now. And for the last couple of days, I've only seen 2 females. But today the feeder was surrounded by zooming hummers. I've been putting a little extra sugar in the water, so maybe the word got around - "Eat at G's, it's sweeter there". Ya think?

I use 1/4 cup of sugar to one cup water. I make four cups at a time though - so one cup sugar to 4 cups boiling water. I still have bunches of them here but its in the 90's here. Supposed to be all week. Of course, our winters aren't like yours either so there may not be much incentive for mine to leave! Besides, the food is great! :-D

That's a mighty big amount of sugar you go through! Do you have a lot of flowers blooming in your yard that attract them or do they just come for your cooking?

Was someone craving something sweet? Awful lotta talk of sweet. Your pic actually looks like it would be sweet and sour. 10 cloves of garlic sounds like a ton I love garlic but I dont think I would have used that much either

I do have a lot of flowers, yes. I have two huge butterfly bushes, too, and they love those as well. I also have a small cascading fountain. Its three levels and they like the water that runs down. They drink from it a lot in the morning. Plus, where I live is kind of rural and I think I'm the only house in my area that feeds.

That's interesting, Frankieanne. I did not know that hummingbirds drank water other than what they get in nectar. I have a small saucer on my patio that I keep filled with fresh water for the other birds, but I've never seen a hummer there. Perhaps they don't like that it's on the ground or they want it to be moving water instead of still.

I think they do like running water. When I water my flowers and plants, I always use the "shower" setting on the fancy nozzle I have. I've had hummingbirds fly into the shower!

PICKLES? What a cute name for a doggie, ml2c. What kind of dog? I had a little doggie called Piddles about 35 years ago. She was the only itty-bitty doggie I ever had. She was sure cute.

    Thanks, so sweet Frankieanne ;)

He's a shitz tzu. He just had a hair cut and looks like a sailor dog lol! I might go ahead and take a pic. of him and post it here for a couple of days like frankie ann then stick the kids back up. I would try and get one of him WITH the kids but Caiden would pull his furry ears ;0)

Lol! No he's a thicker haired shitz tzu...or to be more proper shih tzu..lol! So its really hard to keep his hair all long and combed. I would have to constantly brush it which I don't have the time for! So no...no ponytail! I keep his hair short, especially during the summer (which never ends here) but I keep his ears, face and tail kinda fluffy.
