    Recipe: Broccoli Salad

We loved this! I’m starting to think you can add just about anything to broccoli salad is it’s going to be good. I cut the recipe in half, but found that it still needed the full amount of sauce. Could be that I just used a larger stalk of broccoli. I was curious about the pineapple taste, but it actually got lost once it was mixed in. Unless someone told me it had pineapple, I wouldn’t have known. I made as written, although I used red apples instead of green. I just think the red adds so much color. No amounts were given for the bacon bits or sunflower seeds, so I tossed in a good handful. However, if I were making this for a potluck, I’d go with real bacon instead. The bacon bits got soggy which gave them an odd, chewy texture that comes off as fake. Fine for me, but not so sure about others.

Nice one DIZ3 will try and remember what you noted about the bacon bits compared to bacon.

Another broccoli salad! This one is different from the one I remember that was extremely popular in the 80's (which had real bacon in it) but it looks delicious. Nice of her to share a family recipe! Your picture is so pretty!

Great review DIZ! I agree with the bacon, I find the jarred bits to get soggy very easily. Now anytime I see jar bacon in a recipe I use real. I'm surprised the pineapple got lost, maybe because it was tidbits? I would have to leave out the raisins for my personal preference. Wonder if my daughter who loves raw broccoli would like this? Love your picture!

Mommyluvs2cook, I bet your kiddo would love it. No raisins, huh? Do you like dried cranberries? That's what I sub during the holidays to give it a more festive appeal.
