Chocolate Frosting

I made cupcakes for my Birthday last weekend. I needed a frosting and came across this one. Although the frosting tasted good, it is NOT a good decorating icing. The frosting is too heavy and not fluffy at all to pipe. I'm guessing it's from the condensed milk. My picture is seconds after I piped a swirl, it falls that fast, and 30 seconds after that pic. it's running down the side of the cupcake. I started sticking them straight into the fridge so it would harden. Seemed to work, but they were not pretty to look at :( Anyway, at least they tasted good I guess!

Wow, that's fast for the frosting to flop! Looking at the recipe, I think the powdered sugar should have been mixed with the melted chocolate and vanilla, then *if needed* drizzle in only enough milk to make of piping consistency. Personally, I think the recipe needs some butter in there for body. Glad the taste was OK, though.

That's an unusual recipe. I wonder if there is an error in the recipe or if the submitter has a specific use for it. IMO, the ratio of liquid to sugar would yield something more along the lines of a fake ganache. I'll bet it tasted good!

I've seen similar frostings like this before. But the instructions usually say to chill it in the fridge for awhile before decorating. At least it tasted good!! And it was your birthday, so you only need to impress yourself! ;) They still look good to me!

Yeah something with the recipe isn't right. Even if this was meant to frost a cake with or something I can't see it working....it would just slide down the sides....

I see another poster said it spread quickly, too. Thank goodness it tasted OK!
